About me

(Barcelona, 1964) Degree in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and executive post-graduate programme in Management (PDD) from IESE (University of Navarra).

I am President and founding member of Sobirania i Justícia (Sovereignty & Justice), a civic society whose purpose is to make a qualitative, rigorous contribution to the momentous political debate we have started in Catalonia on creating our own state. S&J also works to make the international community aware of the current political situation in Catalonia and its quest for independence. We have been promoters of four consecutive editions of the annual international conference “Building a New State” held each autumn from 2011 to 2014 in the La Pedrera auditorium (Barcelona). In 2015 we organized the roundtable discussion “Spain, no rule of law?” at the European Parliament with the support of several MEPs from the ALDE (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe) party and the Greens-EFA (European Free Alliance). In 2016 and 2017 we travelled to London and Brussels to debate on “What’s going on in Catalonia?” in a joint effort with the Forum on Geopolitics (Cambridge University) and the Center Maurits Coppieters, respectively. More recently, in November 2017, we put forward along with the Abraham Center for International and Regional Studies (Tel-Aviv University) the international workshop “The Future of Catalonia”.

I am part of the ANC (Catalan National Assembly) where I collaborate with the International Incidence Commission (CII). The ANC is a large network with a bottom-up approach that unites more than 80 thousand people to work towards Catalonia’s independence in a peaceful and democratic way. I am also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fundació Congrés de Cultura Catalana (Congress of Catalan Culture Foundation), which aims to promote study initiatives that serve to enhance Catalan culture and project it to the outside world. Furthermore, I have been a spokesperson for Reinicia Catalunya (Catalonia Reset) (2015-16). This organization intends to gather all the grassroots initiatives that have already arisen from within civil society in order to stimulate the debate on citizens’ participation and the process of founding a new and better state.
